During my time in college, I have come to realize that most days aren’t full of excitement. Most of us have set routines that we follow day in and day out. Our daily routine consists of habits we have developed over time and tasks that we must absolutely do to survive. So why is it that despite everyone following some sort of routine, some people tend to accomplish more within their day?
The truth is that we are defined by the daily practices and habits that we include in our routine. Getting up and going in for a run or practicing 30 minutes of mediation are not very glamorous, but over time they have a positive effect on both our mental and physical health. If you fill your day with a meaningless or detrimental task such as binge-watching your favorite Netflix show or scrolling through your social media feed, you will not experience any sort of real progress or benefit. While I am not advocating for turning into a machine, I do think we should be more mindful of how we are spending our days.
